I tend to complain about music a LOT on my blog... and this post will be nothing different ( yep, I'm a one trick pony... or one trick brony... one trick pony car owner? fuck it... meat and potatoes after the break)

I both love and hate where music is going. If you know where to look, there's more original sounds than ever just floating out there, waiting to be discovered. If you're a casual listener, however, you may find yourself sifting through track after track of watered down, pop, bullshit. Why is that? Long story short... commercialism. This is something I've ranted about before too, so I'm just gonna touch base with a short rant today.

So much music today is just the same old watered down bullshit, spouting the same garbage lyrics everyone else does, about drugs, about money, about intentionally slutty and dumb women. move to the other ends of the spectrum, there's too much dubstep, too much four on the floor electro, too much country( which in my opinion all kinda sounds alike any way.) This is our problem, we're in a day and age where anyone and everyone feels they can jump on a bandwagon to get rich quick.. and it's working... sorta. Everything has just become so watered down and homogenized that most of the acts that once stood out are now just lost in the crowd (I'm lookin at you Skrillex!) What's worse, some of my favorite artists and producers have fallen into this. Skrillex with "bangarang", Dream Theater basically re-released "Images and words" with their album "a dramatic turn of events," Incubus with whatever their new album was called... I can't be bothered to look it up right now. It's pretty damn sad really...
All that said, I'm fairly pleased to say that the likes of Deadmau5, Linkin Park, and Mike Portnoy( in his millions of random projects) are doing their damnedest to do something different. Hell, as a producer, I try to do that as well( and more often than not, I fail... c'est la vie.) Even Black Sabbath is back, and their latest single is fuckin KILLER... Let's all just face it though, as long as money is an issue, music will continue to slip up... it's only a matter of time before it all implodes.

Anyway, I've said all I need/want to say, I'll cut this off here... Man I gotta get back into the swing of this.
